
Board Actions
In May 2008, MCAG Directors made the following decisions -
Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority Board:
- Approved the 2008-09 solid waste budget
- Listened to a presentation on the need to increase tipping fees at the two landfills, selected an option of when those fees should increase, and directed staff to include a public hearing on the matter at the next Authority Board meeting
Transit Joint Powers Authority for Merced County:
- Approved the 2008-09 transit service plan and budget
- Sent a letter of opposition to Governor Schwarzenegger’s May budget revision, which included significant cuts in transit funds
MCAG Governing Board:
- Approved a Memorandum of Understanding to join the Sacramento/Northern California 511 program. This programs allows travelers on the roads to dial 511 from a mobile phone to access traffic information.
- Sent a letter of opposition to Senate Bill 1507 (Oropeza). The bill would prohibit any highway project within ¼ mile of a public or private school. This would affect almost every state route in Merced County.
- Accepted the Regional Transportation Impact Fee 2006-07 financial audit
- Accepted the MCAG 2008-09 work program and budget
- Approved submitting a grant proposal to the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security, California Transit Security Grant program
- Signed a letter in support of two Congressional bills, HR1126 and S1126, both of which deal with rail freight
- Chose Scenario D, more density in growth patterns/more protection of ag land, as Merced County’s vision for the year 2050, part of the Valley-wide Blueprint process
- Appointed Kyle Ford, Citizen at Large; Mary Ford, Small Business; Diana Westmoreland-Pedrozo, Agriculture; and Tom Crawley, Finance, to the MCAG Citizens Advisory Committee
- Approved maintaining the current administrative functions for the SR 99 / 165 Project Study Report with MCAG, and continued the task order with Bender-Rosenthal for contract management and study committee support
- Approved the 2008-09 Local Transportation Fund distribution
- Approved $2,300,000 of Regional Transportation Impact Fee funds for right-of-way acquisition for the Hwy 152 Los Banos bypass project
