In March, MCAG Directors made the following decisions –
As the Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority Board:
There were no agenda items.
As the Transit Joint Powers Authority for Merced County:
- Set a public hearing for April 16 regarding authorizing the filing of two federal transit grant applications for stimulus funding
As the MCAG Governing Board:
- Approved the Northern San Joaquin Valley Regional Ramp Metering and High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane Master Plan
- Approved submitting the 2009-10 Partnership Planning Grant application for aerial photography
- Directed staff to release a Request for Proposals to prepare a 10-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, and to solicit plan funding from MCAG member agencies and community based organizations
- On the Atwater-Merced Expressway:
- Moved to approve the California Environmental Equality Act (CEQA) Findings and Statement of Overriding Considerations
- Selected Modified Alternative 1B as the preferred alignment
- Requested the cities of Atwater and Merced and Merced County to incorporate the preferred alternative alignment into their respective General Plans
- On the transportation stimulus funded projects:
- Approved amendment to the Federal Transportation Improvement Program increasing the lump sum line item of ARRA projects in Merced County to $5,054,316 (and additional $293,502)
- Nominated the list of transportation stimulus projects to the California Transportation Commission
- Directed staff to work with project sponsors to allocate and obligate the funding to the projects as quickly as possible
- Approved speeding up project selection procedures for the Federal Transportation Improvement Program
