GIS Data Development - 1620
To continue to strengthen relationships with resource agencies and to collect, create and utilize the best GIS data available for modeling and planning purposes.
Staff will continue to contact/meet with various resource agencies to solicit data for use in GIS. By expanding the GIS with more detailed environmentally sensitive data, it will aid in future growth and planning efforts. Major structures will also be digitized for similar purposes.
Staff has previously obtained data from various agencies for use in the San Joaquin Valley Regional Blueprint Program. There will be a continued effort to collect environmentally sensitive data to incorporate with future planning efforts. This work could vary from projecting existing GIS data, to scanning and digitizing information from maps, to georeferencing databases.
Staff would use resources available including aerial photos to digitize major structures. These would include landmarks, major buildings, government offices, agricultural production facilities, dairies and any other major structures.
