GIS Web Page / Internet Application - 1630

To maintain a GIS based website for downloading and displaying maps produced by MDSS. This website includes an interactive mapping tool that utilizes MDSS GIS data and is usable by all member jurisdictions and the public.

MCAG hopes to have its new ArcGIS Server up and running by July 2011. This will open up a variety of opportunities for the new site. The new site will be faster and more graphically appealing. It will allow staff to expand on the functionality while maintaining the same type of high quality, user friendly experience.

Some of the enhancements that will be made are including more data layers for specific user experiences. In addition to base map, transportation and planning layers already included, the following layers will be added:

One of the functionality improvements will be an enhanced search function. This will allow users to easily and intuitively search for parcels, addresses, businesses and other locations. Another function will be to allow members to sketch or “mark up” the map to submit changes or comments to staff for review. This will create a fast, online quality review process. The graphic, symbology and labeling will also be enhanced. Staff will host a workshop with the member agencies to solicit practical ideas for enhancing the functionality of the GIS website.

MDSS, Inc. will prepare this element under an agreement with MCAG.
