Transportation Demand Management / Rideshare - 1670
To encourage and promote improved air quality, congestion reduction, and energy conservation by the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle trips through the implementation of programs designed to provide alternatives for commuters within Merced County.
Air quality concerns and congested streets and highways are some of the factors behind a statewide effort to promote alternative modes of transportation. The Transportation Demand Management Program is to reduce single occupancy vehicles, thereby increasing mobility and improving air quality. The program will include rideshare matching services provided by San Joaquin Council of Governments. The program will also target employers that are subject to the Air Districts Trip Reduction Rule and commuters commuting to locations outside of the county.
Promotion of alternative modes seeks to reduce the number of automobile trips within and between cities and unincorporated areas in Merced County.
