Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan

WHAT IS THE EV READINESS PLAN?Picture2

MCAG is preparing a Community Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan, which is a strategic document to prepare the Merced region for a future with more electric vehicles. The plan, once completed, will guide MCAG towards a future where if a vehicle is necessary, it is powered by clean, renewably sourced electricity rather than fossil fuels.

The EV Readiness Plan will:

  • Identify existing and potential sites for electric vehicle charging stations to support EV adoption.
  • Address challenges specific to the Merced region such as implementation of EV infrastructure permits, policies, and funding.
  • Educate and inform the community, stakeholders, and MCAG staff about electric vehicles and their associated infrastructure.

The ultimate goal of the plan is to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve air quality in the Merced region by preparing the community to welcome and encourage electric vehicle use in lieu of driving gas-powered vehicles.

GET INVOLVED!

The EV Readiness Plan includes a community engagement and education program to obtain feedback on important considerations for implementing EV charging programs. Below are some of the strategies that MCAG will use to engage with the public:

  • Online Questionnaires
  • Key Stakeholder Focus Group Meetings
  • Community Workshop
  • Email Blasts
  • Social Media Updates
