CALTRANS TO BEGIN PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT ON STATE ROUTE 33 NEAR DOS PALOS IN MERCED COUNTY

MERCED COUNTY – Caltrans is beginning a maintenance project to make necessary improvements to rehabilitate approximately 12 lane miles of pavement of State Route 33 (SR-33) near the community of Dos Palos in Merced County. 

Work will occur on northbound and southbound SR-33 from West Christian Avenue in Dos Palos to the SR-152 Junction. 

• Daytime single-lane closures on SR-33 will occur periodically, Mondays through Thursdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

• SR-152 on and off-ramps will be subject to closures Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Detours will be provided. 

• There will be periodic parking restrictions along SR-33 (Elgin Avenue) between the county line (south of West Christian Avenue) and the SR-152 Junction. Street side signs will provide advance warning. 

This project is scheduled to begin the week of April 19, 2021, (weather permitting) with completion expected in June 2021. Caltrans will have changeable message signs alerting motorists of the lane closures and potential delays. This maintenance project will be performed by Cal Valley Construction of Fresno, CA. 

Schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
